Health Benefits Of Oregano

Oregano is an aromatic plant (Origanum vulgare) of the mint family, related to marjoram, with leaves that are used fresh or dried as a culinary herb. It grows to 20 inches, with purple flowers and spade-shaped, olive-green leaves. It prefers a hot, relatively dry climate, but will do well in other environments.

Oregano benefits are numerous. Did you know that oregano has 42 times more antioxidant power than apples? It surprised me to learn it has 12 times more antioxidant properties than oranges, is rich in fiber similar to the amount found in chicory, has anti-bacterial properties, and is a great, natural source of Omega-3 fatty acids.
