It is well documented that to lose weight you must eat healthy and exercise more. For most people eating healthier is not as much of an issue as the exercising. Most of our awake hours are already filled with work and daily activities. How can you add 30 – 60 minutes a day to exercise? A new study discusses the use of a pedometer program that tracks the amount of activity you are already doing.

Indiana University researchers discovered the simple use of a pedometer motivated participants to be more active. Pedometers are relatively inexpensive they are about $5 – $65 depending on functions and quality. A mid-range pedometer can be hooked up to your computer to show activity.

Following is an article published at “Medical News Today” that will fill you in on the study:

Weight Loss With Pedometer

It’s been shown that walking 6,000 – 10,000 steps a day will help you achieve your rapid healthy weight loss goals. The average person walks about 3,000 steps per day. A review of pedometer research studies in 2007 found that people who set a goal with a pedometer were more likely to increase their physical activity, lose weight, and lower their blood pressure. The best part about using a pedometer to loss weight is that your counting steps you take all day long, not trying to fit 30-60 minutes of exercise every day or every other day. Add a pedometer walking program to help you lose weight and get more exercise.
